Future of Wireless technology

What to expect from wireless technology in the coming few years?

We are already seeing many advances in wireless technology. From Bluetooth headsets that allow you to wirelessly listen and communicate with your loved ones you have homes that can follow commands uttered to them.

As always any technology that’s going to be the front runner often always takes baby steps that may seem insignificant at first. It was scarcely 50 years ago that a 2MB hard-drive would take up the size of an entire room and ten men to just heave it down there.

Last I heard, there’s a micro-chip the size of a coin that can store trillions of terabytes. So it is the progress with communication technology. Especially wireless communication today.

The first thing that comes to mind is a wire free experience and the foremost element of that is the experience of being able to enjoy music without being tangled in wires.

So what might change in the coming few years?

Wireless Entertainment

Wireless headsets and communication devices are already ruling the roost. I don’t think entertainment industry is going to wait up on the opportunity.
Connecting the TV to various other devices like woofers, sub-woofers, input devices, recording devices, and surround sound system is messy and often requires an electrician. What about just placing them on their spots and get wirelessly connected and enjoy the whole thing.

With Android TVs already streaming 4K UHD, the day doesn’t seem far.

Wireless charging for Smartphones

Headphones are already connected wirelessly. But what if charging smartphones too become wireless and mainstream at the same time.
Currently there’s a few devices allowing wireless charging but it is expensive and sometimes inefficient. That would soon change.

Internet

We can already experience internet through wireless routers and there are many routers that allow multiple devices like smartphones to be wirelessly connected to the routers. These connectivity devices additionally sport many other great features.

Wireless routers of the future will see more devices getting connected to the router like your entire home and home appliances. Imagine your Next gen television that not only has woofers on close quarters but can connect to the router and effortlessly download your favorite shows or social media updates and rely them when you watch TV. Better yet, imagine walking up to the refrigerator for a cold one and getting greeted on your birthday or being reminded about your friend’s birthday all on the fridge’s door.

That would be remarkable, if the whole home communicated with each other and make decisions. Run out of milk, your fridge can check the status and place an order online since it’s wirelessly connected to the router.

At the same time, it goes without saying that we will be able to enjoy faster than ever internet speeds wirelessly much faster than wired fibre optic connections in the future.

Concluding thoughts

I believe that wireless technology will take over the world in the coming few years. All we have to do is wait and watch.
